Restoration Of The Old[ish]

For those wondering what I've been up to or those who couldn't care less. Had a couple of resoration jobs on.

The main one was an Alba record player from 1970. It had suffered a hard life, maily in me taking it apart as a kid to see how it worked, but it does have sentimental value as it was my late mothers so I took some time to re-build it and get it working.

Here we see some of the work being carried out.

In need of a little work

The hight of hi tech gear. This is a simple transistor amp section which uses a crystal cartridge. A crystal cartridge has a high impeadance which make amp design simple.

Audio Chaos

Audio Chaos
Been a wild time since the youth event, we of course have had Christmas which was one of the most unusual Christmas events I have known.

We now have a sort of a drama team who put on an unusual twelve days of Christmas. The story revolved around a young lady looking for the meaning of Christmas , a fairy godmother [banned in some churches but we like to be progressive], and the twelve days of Christmas, I'll not go through everything but we had rain deers and a merry Santa pulled up by the bill, dancers cancan dancing two boxers boxing and one baby Jesus ahhhh..

Gave us techies a bit of work to do.

The came the children’s Sunday presentation of the Christmas story, 'Christmas Around The World'. I love what th kids do but micking up and event lake that is one of those try it and make it work things.

Early part of 2007 been not the best of times but we all have life to cope with. Some relatively good new, or will be when I can find the fault on it, a new addition to the Family Von PA, a Peavy CS800S two channel 1200W amp. Looking forward to having it service.

Any how, keep it live and kicking rockers.

Soundbite me.

Youth Event

For those who've commented, thanks guys, good to get feed back, well, good on a blog site not so good at a live gig [Little sound engineering joke there, hummnn, no hum noise is bad too]. Sorry back to this blog.

Ros, progress sort of happening, might be finished soon, measured up and almost ready for work to start. Will be ready for OFFKITCH inspection soon.

Busy weekend again. Large youth event, ‘Fusion’, in Chorley-by-bricks had two bands on, our own Fusion band and Souls Rest a hip-hop band.

This time had the event at ‘Tchorley Little Theatre, technically an easy night as we used the in-house gear, saved my achey brakey back. Had youth from all around the area attend and the Theatre survived quite well.

Only one thing missing, a good pot of tea, so any offers would be gratefully received.Next thing should be an outside broadcast for the Big Switch on of the lights, hoping I can make it in time from work, certainly for some of the interviews, will keep you informed. After that we start outside broadcasting of Carol services around the area, all good stuff. In-between all this might get some work on the house done ready fro the big inspection by OFFKITCH, really looking forward to that, in many ways.Folks take good care, thanks for ploughing through the ramblings of a sound geek.

Ditch the digital, viva le analogue especially video, just a little campaign. Chow folks.

On The Road Again

Sorry, especially to ros...[Hi treasure you cheeky little minx, I have read the comments]. To those keen to find out what audio mayhem I've been creating, well, here goes....

Recently I have gone all cultural, the hard hitting Petra, Holy Soldier, Guardian etc has taken somewhat of a back seat to [wait for it]................. Choral singing, yep you read right choral singing.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of sound engineering and recording at road shows in the North West for a new Northwest company ‘United Voice North West’. www.unitedvoiceuk.com

United Voice are brining together people from around the Northwest, training, vocal coaching and rehearsals and a chance to sing at The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall accompanied by The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

So I am sorry Blogging also has taken a bit of a back seat but I have been spending time getting all the gear together and checking it all out for the road shows, which went very well, thanks for asking.

All this started directly after, by directly I mean the very next evening after, a children’s party at which I created more mayhem with a kids disco, in between hospital radio and sound engineering at the church and work etc, etc, etc.............. I’m waffling now.......

Loads more happening but I’m off to move the car before the time limit expires and those nice ‘Parking Attendants hugh!!!’ we have in this area leave me another love letter on the windscreen, never thought I’d say this ‘Bring back proper traffic wardens’

Anyhow, happy blogging, hope I an't board yo all too much.

Keep Sound Live and Real.

My first sound bite

The first entry on the new fantastic non audio audio blog.

You may have guest from the title of this blog site what my main interest is, yup, correct, lighting. No, only taking the Michael, obviously, it's chemical engineering which I gave up for electronics, what a plonker.

Audio engineering figure high on the list if past times. Anyhow enough rambling for my first blog posting, or I'll have nothing to say for my second.
